Pop star Britney Spears has had her surprise marriage annulled,
less than 55 hours after tying the knot with a childhood friend.
The singer married Jason Alexander on Saturday morning, during a
night out in Las Vegas.
But immediately her lawyers filed for an annulment by the courts.
It wasn't exactly a dream wedding. At the ceremony,
Spears forsook traditional garb in favor of jeans and a baseball
cap, and she was walked down the aisle by the hotel bellman. Her
groom wore a casual shirt.
"It was just crazy, man," Alexander
told "Access
Hollywood" in an interview at his home Monday morning. "And
we were just looking at each other and said, 'Let's do something
wild, crazy. Let's go get married, just for the hell of it.' "
In fact, "Britney Spears and a friend took
a joke too far by getting married" is exactly how the singer's
reps described it.
